INSECURE Season Four, Episode Seven: Molly, Mountains, Mindfulness and My Thoughts in No Particular Order
I shole can’t wait till they find LaToya’s ass!
No one understands the stress of the perfectionistic, black professional who is burdened by the lofty, mostly unrealistic, expectations of family, friends, one’s heritage, and the self; couple that with the on-going charge of defeating stereotypes, dealing with workplace micro-aggressions, and pretending that you’re not hurt and broken by any of it.
If you want to find out how to get into the mind of a closed off person, study Andrew. He understands that access to Molly means that he must provide security and create space that is built upon trust.
“Lord don’t move my mountain, but give me the strength to climb.”
I’m wondering if Andrew and Molly click because he, too, seems to be the “strong one.” Maybe that’s why he gets her.
Also, Molly doesn’t want to control Andrew. As a matter of fact, I’m sure she’s delighted that she can’t. He doesn’t fawn over her which keeps her interested.
Random: Lawrence has been wearing some cute tops lately. #mensstyle
It would seem that the people who sleep on therapy the most, NEED IT THE MOST!!
Speaking of which: You MUST be consistent with your therapy. You can’t go five times and think you’re cured. It doesn’t work like that.
The wardrobe in this episode was fiyah!!
Sadly, there will always be a contentious relationship between Asian-Americans and African-Americans that is perpetuated by racist white sentiments that cast Asians as the light-skinned, obedient, petite, smart cousin and Blacks as the dark-skinned, rebellious, poor cousin with unmanageable 4c hair.
Andrew checked Molly when she came for Nathan. Andrew also checked his brother three times when he came for Molly in the pool scene. Moral of the story: Don’t talk what you don’t know!
Speaking of the pool scene...Molly was right. Andrew’s brother picked the wrong time and the wrong scenario to play “devil’s advocate” AND therapist. He literally watched the scene unfold and agreed that Molly was right, only to turn around and disregard her feelings and challenge her reaction. AND, Molly was helping his wife!!!! Oh no ma’am!
Now, we DO notice a similarity between Andrew’s brother and Molly: they struggle with knowing their place.
The lesson for Molly doesn’t happen at the pool, but the morning after when Andrew explains to her the “art” of forgiveness and the process of talking through issues and moving on with the people you love.
Back to therapy: I’ve seen plenty of people without therapists suggest that Molly see hers. Oh the irony...🙄
I have the unresolved feeling that Andrew’s sister, Fiona, is a terrorist.
Kim Fields will always be Regine to me. Always.
I’m team Nathan; and whereas I was sure I wanted him and Issa back together, I’m not sure about that anymore.
