Anderson Harrison, III, here.

I was born and raised in the industrial city of Port Arthur, Texas—home of Babe Didrikson Zaharias (arguably one of the greatest female athletes of all time), UGK (RIP Chad “Pimp C” Butler), and some of the best English teachers ever.

Around my sophomore year of high school, my mom purchased my brother and I our first computer. I was bored one evening and decided to create a newsletter. (Give me a break, it was 1999/2000.) I remember going to school with about five printed copies of In My Opinion, my debut writing piece, with the intent of only having them distributed amongst my circle of friends. As my luck would have it, one of the copies made its way to my choir teacher. I just knew she was going to kill me. Instead, she read it, smirked a few times, and told me about the three misspelled words that I should consider correcting. Then, she gave a most rousing lesson on sentence structure. Because my friends loved it, I put out a few more issues before graduating in 2001.

No, I did not major in English. I was a chemical engineering scholarship student at The University of Oklahoma (OU). Granted, I did change my major after a couple years because I was bored. I explored a couple other majors and finally settled with political science, minoring in African & African American Studies. As a political science major, especially, I wrote a whole lot. However, I found that ghostwriting was where I really shined! It gave me joy to write an admission plea for a friend who was hoping to get into a sorority, or a speech for a colleague. And, for the most part nothing has changed. I’ve done it all and everything in between, well…except a book. I haven’t done that yet!

After leaving OU, I decided to go back to school for a second bachelor’s degree. No, I did not major in English. I attended Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma on a vocal performance scholarship. Wait…did I mention that I’ve been a musician my entire life? That’s a different conversation for a different website. The bottom line is that I love writing and find it to be one of the most authentic ways for me to express myself. This site is dedicated to that artistry. So, check out my work. (Note: The opinions expressed here do not reflect the views of my employers or my loved ones.) If you’d like for me to write something for you, please feel free to contact me. I’d love to hear from you.

In the meantime, ENJOY!
